Welcome The NeW Ruling Party-APC CONSOLIDATES POWER

The wind of change blowing across the country again resonated yesterday in states that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has governed since the return of civil rule in 1999.

Results monitored by LEADERSHIP SUNDAY’s correspondents indicated that Benue, Niger, Jigawa and Katsina have fallen to the winning streak of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, won the March 28 presidential election against the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP.

APC also won 65 out of the 109 seats in the Senate and majority seats in the House of Representatives.

In yesterday’s state houses of assembly and governorship elections, a similar pattern of the “historic change” was seen in the states hitherto considered PDP strongholds.

Although final figures are still being compiled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), our correspondents reported that the APC was “progressively leading” in most of the polling units monitored.

In Niger State, the APC candidate, Abubakar Bello, was jubilant and excited members of the party were seen celebrating across the state’s 25 local government areas.

In Benue, the successes of Senators Barnabas Gemade and George Akume in the National Assembly election also rubbed off on the APC candidate for the state, Samuel Ortom.

Ortom resigned from the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the state’s number one job. He was maintaining a comfortable lead in 18 of the 23 local governments at press time.

At the Government House polling unit, Ortom scored 145 votes to beat his PDP opponent, Terhemen Tarzoor, who polled 119 votes.

Asari Dokubo and the Latest Threat

Asari Dokubo, the former militant who promised to unleash violence on the country if the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan failed in election, has issued a new threat.

He promised to return “to the creeks” and blamed the Yoruba and Hausa for working against Igbo and Niger Deltans.

Dokubo said the election of General Muhammadu Buhari as president “is a clear indication that the country is not united” and blamed the Yoruba and Hausa for cooperating to frustrate Jonathan, who applauds from the Niger Delta region.

In a comment realesed by his spokesperson Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro, Dokubo saud: “Nigerian union clearly reinforces the fact of self determination and that Nigeria remains a very divided and separated entity whose claim to unity remains a fraud of gargantuan proportion.

“The celebrated victory of Buhari is not the victory of the people but victory of regional conspiracy and supremacy. The voting Partern has clearly shown that the Gambari North and the Yorubas are United in the conquest of the Niger Deltans and the Igbos of defunct Biafra with the middle belt now used as pawns.

“The victory of Muhammadu Buhari is a historical reminder that we are a conquered people who are mere appendages existing at the pleasure of the supremacist and the regional overlords.

“We remain a people separated by our ideologies and interests, we are not integrated nor reconciled.”

Former militant supposed that the elect administration could endeavor to sabotage the interest of the Niger Delta and called for a return to the creeks.

He added: “The conditions that advanced the need to embrace the creeks have been sadly re energised, it is clear that a vicious government who may maim and murder the voice of the so called minorities may have just been birthed. Indeed integration is nonexistent as regional gang ups and supremacy is symbolic with this victory.

“While President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan enjoys his moments and bask in the euphoria of a now world renowned statesman having congratulated Muhammadu Buhari his conqueror, we must quickly remind that our struggle was never about Jonathan nor about presidency.

“President Goodluck Jonathan was an establishment beneficiary of our struggle, our sweat and blood that many bled and died for,  he was never in the struggle and he can never wish away our collective march forward for statesmanship. Yes Indeed to an extent he was a  mitigating factor in self determination pursuit as we went on sabbatical, this mitigation he seem to have willingly repudiated.

“The days coming will be critical, we shall study all the conditions and consult widely before determining the way going forward for our collective existence and survival as a people. The days coming shall either drive the quest of integration or further separate us.”

It should be noted that the fake tweet circulated yesterday on the media. It stated that Asari Dokubo acclaimed President Jonathan and said he is a friend to any government, but later former militant denied the such news, saying that he would stay loyal to Jonathan.

Ghana Presidential Jet Catches Fire At Kotoka

Ghana presidential jet caught fire on Tuesday at the Kotoka International Airport in the capital Accra.

Reports say the Falcon 900, slowed down and caught fire while attempting to take off.

A press statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces and signed by the Director of Public Relations, Lieutenant Commander, Andy La-Anyane noted that “the fire was caused as a result of friction between the wheels and the runway surface”.

He said the craft was on its way to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on a mission.

The official statement from the Ghana Armed Forces said the crew experienced slight operational problems with the computer system as the craft taxied on the runway preparing to take off.

As a result, the statement said, “the aircraft returned to the Air Force Base in Accra to reset the computers.”

It added that during the second attempt to take-off, the “aircraft lost two main left wheels.”

Emergency procedures were followed and passengers were promptly disembarked.

It, however, was not revealed if pre-flight procedures were equally followed.

It is also not yet known who was on board when the incident occurred.

she poisoned herself over failure to secure admission in the university

Gaining admission into the university should not be a do-or-die affair, but a 24-year-old female pre-degree student of a University in the South-South has attempted suicide after she failed to gain admission into the university for a degree programme.

After going through the list of students that succeeded in gaining admission for a degree programme in the University on the internet and found out tha her name was missing, she decided to poison herself.

One of her roommate who noticed what was going on quickly called for help and she was rushed to the hospital.

In the hospital, the doctor ran some tests, and it was discovered that she wanted to commit suicide.

The doctor said if she had stayed a moment longer she would have died.

The doctor then gave her some drugs to flush the poison out of her system and advised her to take life one step at a time.

adultery is niw legal

South Korea's Constitutional Court has struck down a 60-year-old statute outlawing adultery under which violators faced up to two years in prison.

The nine-member bench ruled by seven to two that the 1953 law was unconstitutional in a judgement handed down on Thursday.

Follow @SkytrendNews On Twitter

"Even if adultery should be condemned as immoral, state power should not intervene in individuals' private lives," said presiding justice Park Han-Chul.

It was the fifth time the apex court had considered the constitutional legality of the legislation which had made South Korea one of the few non-Muslim countries to regard marital infidelity as a criminal act.

In the past six years, close to 5,500 people have been formerly arraigned on adultery charges - including nearly 900 in 2014.

But the numbers had been falling, with cases that end in prison terms increasingly rare.

Whereas 216 people were jailed under the law in 2004, that figure had dropped to 42 by 2008, and since then only 22 have found themselves behind bars, according to figures from the state prosecution office.

The downward trend was partly a reflection of changing societal trends in a country where rapid modernisation has frequently clashed with traditionally conservative norms.

ThisIsBuhari ' s Speech in Chatham House Today

@ThisIsBuhari ' s Speech in Chatham House Today ‪#‎March4Buhari‬

Permit me to start by thanking Chatham House for the invitation to talk about this important topic at this crucial time. When speaking about Nigeria overseas, I normally prefer to be my country’s public relations and marketing officer, extolling her virtues and hoping to attract investments and tourists. But as we all know, Nigeria is now battling with many challenges, and if I refer to them, I do so only to impress on our friends in the United Kingdom that we are quite aware of our shortcomings and are doing our best to address them.

The 2015 general election in Nigeria is generating a lot of interests within and outside the country. This is understandable. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and largest economy, is at a defining moment, a moment that has great implications beyond the democratic project and beyond the borders of my dear country.

So let me say upfront that the global interest in Nigeria’s landmark election is not misplaced at all and indeed should be commended; for this is an election that has serious import for the world. I urge the international community to continue to focus on Nigeria at this very critical moment. Given increasing global linkages, it is in our collective interests that the postponed elections should hold on the rescheduled dates; that they should be free and fair; that their outcomes should be respected by all parties; and that any form of extension, under whichever guise, is unconstitutional and will not be tolerated.

With the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the dissolution of the USSR in 1991, the collapse of communism and the end of the Cold War, democracy became the dominant and most preferred system of government across the globe. That global transition has been aptly captured as the triumph of democracy and the ‘most pre-eminent political idea of our time.’ On a personal note, the phased end of the USSR was a turning point for me. It convinced me that change can be brought about without firing a single shot.

10yr old nigerian girl fets admission to study maths in uk Univer

this Britain's cleverest girl?
Ten-year-old is accepted on university course to study maths degree despite not going to school

Esther Okade from Walsall has enrolled on Open University course
After degree she wants to study for PhD before running her own bank
Girl's younger brother Isiah is already studying for A-levels aged six
Siblings are both home-schooled by mathematician mother Omonefe

She spends her spare time in a similar way to many other ten-year-old girls - playing with Barbie dolls and making loom bands.
But the key difference between Esther Okade and other children her age is that she has been accepted to study for a university maths degree - despite not going to school.

Esther, from Walsall, West Midlands, has enrolled on an Open University course months after she passed her A-levels - and wants to study for a PhD before running her own bank.

The girl, who gained a C grade in her maths GCSE aged six, has joined the course which started this month. Her younger brother Isiah is already studying for his A-levels - also aged six.

The siblings are both home-schooled by their mother Omonefe, who has converted the living room of their semi-detached, three-bedroom house into a makeshift classroom.

Mathematician Mrs Okade, 37, said: ‘Esther is doing so well. She took a test recently and scored 100 per cent. Applying to the university was an interesting process because of her age.

‘We even had to talk to the vice-chancellor. After they interviewed her they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning. From the age of seven Esther has wanted to go to university

‘But I was afraid it was too soon. She would say, “Mum, when am I starting?”, and go on and on and on. Finally, after three years she told me, “Mum, I think it is about time I started university now”.’

Mrs Okade added that Esther - who will study for her degree at home - was ‘flying’ and ‘so happy’ when she was accepted by the university, and wants to be a millionaire.

She said: ‘For now we want her to enjoy her childhood as well as her maths. By the time she was four I had taught her the alphabet, her numbers, and how to add, subtract

charly boy -i will shoot to kill @tresspassers

Charly Oputa, the one popularly called Area Fada, is one man who loves stirring the hornet's nest at all times and controversies are his second name.

He should know what it means by defending his territory and to scare away trespassers from his house, Charly Boy put up a sign that he 'shoots to kill', warning intruders that they will be violated.

He then took to his blog to write this interesting article about protecting his zone. But it is not just about protecting his property. Charly Boy talks about setting a boundary in whatever anyone does.

Read the interesting article here:

'We Shoot To Kill. Trespassers Will Be Violated.'

"Why this provocative warning? Many may wonder, perhaps many more are careful to hang around my property, before they get shot for loitering, for nothing.

Well, just putting people on notice that I will violently defend my territory at all times; just like the dog and animals generally, pee on objects to mark their boundaries/territories. Yes, I don mark my territory be dat, no messing around.

Though I have not shot anyone yet, I will not hesitate to use extreme violence in defending my territory if push comes to shove. Yes, I will shoot to kill first, then ask questions later. Yesooo.

When there is heavy rainfall, we need umbrella; when our homes are dirty we need broom to sweep off the dirt, and when there is unfettered increase in crime/violence, we need weapons to defend and protect us and our loved ones at all times.

We all should know that we have a right to do so; and that we not only have the right, but also the duty to take responsibility for how we allow others to treat us.

DONT SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED :: “niGERia WILL CEASE TO EXIST BY DECEMBER 2015″ – Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra..........Reported by niGERia Daily Post

The agitation for the actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra has taken a new dimension with a new leader of the struggle, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu declaring his readiness to fight all the way.
He said Nigeria would seize to exist by December 2015.
Kanu, who spoke at a gathering of members of defunct Biafra, including scores of its aged war veterans, vowed that he would not rest until the Republic is realised.

The event, held at Ngwo, Enugu State, was the maiden commemoration of Biafran Day on May 30th, in remembrance of the events of 1967 when the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu declared the Republic of Biafra.
Kalu, the Director of Radio Biafra used the occasion to unveil a multi- million naira cenotaph in memory of Biafra fallen heroes killed during the civil war.

soildiers clash with civilian jtf

Pandemonium ensued in Yola, the Adamawa State
capital on Friday, disruptimg business activities at
the popular Jimeta shopping complex, as soldiers
and civilian JTF members clashed inside the
complex.
The development forced shops owners to close
for the day for fear of being killed following the
sporadic shooting by the armed soldiers in the
market.
An eyewitnesses said trouble started when a
group of soldiers in mufti arrived the shopping
complex in search of a runaway sister of one of
them.
The eyewitness noted that on arrival in the
shopping complex , the soldier went straight to a
shop owner, whom they suspected was hiding the

While the battle to route Boko Haram insurgents within six weeks as promised by the Federal government rages, an army officer, nursing the wounds and deep feelings over the whole incident, spoke exhaustively to Saturday Vanguard about his battle field experiences at Gombe and Yobe axis and why he deserted the profession he loves so much.

His narration which runs like a ‘war memoir’ is as interesting although the military has recorded reasonable success with more equipment with which they have attacked terror camps and killed a great number of them. However we present to you an interesting account of an officer who deserted the army from the battle front.
Excerpts:

BACKGROUND
‘’I have served Nigerian Army for about twenty years. I enrolled through the regular course.
I have served in almost all formations in the country. I am from the middle Belt part of the country, married with two children, a boy and girl. I have also served in foreign missions in Sierra-leone, Liberia and Dafur and we always came out in flying colours. Sierra-leone and Liberia were for peace enforcement while Dafur was for peace support missions. We fought real battles at Sierra-leone and Liberia for about one year. We were there as a member of ECOWAS and we proved our mettle. It was popularly called ECOMOG. The battles were tense but rewarding in the sense that we were heavily equipped and all we needed for the war were adequately provided for us. During the battles we recorded very minimal casualty though. You know that it is difficult not to record casualties in war situations.

A picture taken on February 17, 2015 shows Cameroonian soldiers patrolling in the Cameroonian town of Fotokol, on the border with Nigeria, after clashes occurred on February 4 between Cameroonian troops and Nigeria-based Boko Haram insurgents. Nigerian Boko Haram fighters went on the rampage in the Cameroonian border town of Fotokol on February 4, massacring dozens of civilians and torching a mosque before being repelled by regional forces AFP PHOTO

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LARGESSE
‘’In spite of the fact that the war was being fought outside Nigeria, the Federal Government of Nigeria under General Abacha provided us with all we needed and when ever we complained of any inadequacy, the Federal government provided them without delay. That was the spirit and we relished and cherished it. It was such that we were all looking forward to being drafted back to continue with the war. But it is a totally different thing with the against Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.

FEARS OVER ILL-PREPARATION
This is a war in which almost 95% of our soldiers fear to join. Our fears are not that we were not trained enough to face the challenges but simply because we seem not to be prepared, at all, for the war. A lot of sabotage, politics and other extraneous factors are seriously inhibiting the success of the war. Unfortunately, we are loosing a lot in men and material. It is so much that whenever the toll will be taken, the world will weep for this country. Already, thousands of families are in deep grief, having lost their dear ones in the war.
As we speak, I have deserted from the battle field at Bajoga, Yobe State. Let me give you a vivid account of the circumstances that led to my deserting the profession I love so much.

Tale of a ‪#‎lizard‬ ~ Japan.

Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls during renovation, the workman found that there was a lizard stuck there b'se a nail from outside was hammered into one of its feet.

He saw this, felt pity, and at the same time he was curious. When he checked the nail, turns out, it was nailed 10 yrs ago when the house was first built.

Dont Drink Cold Water- Here's why

We all agree that nothing beats the sensation you
get when you down a bottle of cold water or soda
when you are hot. That chilling and refreshing
sensation could akin to seeing a river in a desert.
As rewarding as cold water can be, in hot
weathers like ours, experts say that it comes with
serious health consequences. They warn that one
may need to hands off drinking cold water
regularly due to its negative impact on the heart
and the digestive system.
Consultant nutritionist, Dr. Tosin Akinsanya, says
even though the body cannot have too much of
water, it complains when it has too much of cold
water. According to the food and healthy living
expert, cold water is at a temperature that
contradicts the overall temperature within the
body system.
Akinsanya says that normal body temperature of
the body is between 34 and 37 oC while that of
cold water is usually between zero and two
degrees Celsius and this sudden change in
temperature levels, which usually happens when
we drink cold water, shocks the body, leading to
chronic diseases in those who drink it over time.
“The body is made up of 70 per cent of warm
water. Water is the most important fluid in the
body because it is the medium blood uses. It is
the medium which circulates nutrients around the
body. If the 30 per cent we drink is against the
normal temperature of the body, we see how hard
it is for the body to make use of it. Cold water
causes distress in the tissues and blood vessels.
“The body has to warm up the cold water you
drink every time to an acceptable temperature
before it can take it up for digestion, nutrient and
blood circulation. That is why we advise people
not, take drugs with cold water. The drugs will
not digest on time; it means you won’t get the
best of the drugs because the water did not
dissolve on time.”
Family health physician and author of Ten Habits
To Drop Right Now, Dr. Vasant Lad, adds that
drinking cold water after a meal has adverse
effects on the digestive system. Lad also warns
against drinking cold water immediately before a
meal.
For Dr. Lucia John, a major reason why we
should ditch cold water for tepid or warm one is

Signs THat she wants You

1) She has not resisted being alone with you
on AT LEAST 2 instances.

Women are masters at avoiding awkward one-on-one
situations with men they don’t like. They would rather
take a long walk down the street on a hot day than to
spend 15 minutes alone with a disgusting guy she has
no sexual interest in on a bus. Even if you have a group
project meeting and you came early and found her early
as well… she will not want to spent personal time with
you if she doesn’t have an interest in you. She will likely
whip out her iPhone and fiddle on a worthless APP or
talk to a friend on an urgent call instead of talking to
you on an individual basis.
She may give you that one chance on a first coincidental
incident to be alone with her. If she does not like what
you have put her through, there will NEVER be a second
time.
So when she has allowed herself to be alone with her on
at least 2 occasions, it’s time to step up your game.

2). She reveals her cleavage to you AND does
not fix it when you call her on it.

Women wear alluring dresses all the time but gives a
look of disgust whenever a guy checks her out. There is
a common misconception that women dress that way
to RAISE their attraction to men.
The reality of what’s going on is that women dress that
way to RAISE their attraction for that ONE man that
means something to her. Every banana means nothing
to her EXCEPT that ONE banana.
There’s a lot of psychology going on here. Like making
the man she wants see that she has a very high value to
other men. But I’m not going to go into that.
Next time you managed to steal a peek at her cleavage,
call her out on it. If she does nothing to fix it or “fix” it
just to easily reveal her depth to you 3 seconds later,
you have been given the all-clear to make your move.

19 SIGNS YOU ARE ALREADY SUCCESSFUL AND YOU ARE SIMPLY UNAWARE

1. You aren’t controlled by your income.
You might not be able to afford a Rolex, but if you aren’t living from week-to-week financially you are a success.

2. You don’t seek praise.
Being able to do your part without looking for praise is a strong sign of mental security.

3. You suffer less drama.
A lack of chaos points to order and harmony.

4. You have a plan and drive.
If you actually have a framework to follow in your life to reach your life goals, you are already pretty successful. Most people don’t plan ahead! If you don’t mind getting your sleeves rolled up and your hands dirty to achieve those goals, you are better off than you think.

5. You crave more and strive to improve.
Ambition and a desire for knowledge and improvement points to a determined individual who seeks to better themselves.

6. You are an early bird and manage time well.
When you find that you are jumping out of bed, ready to attack the day, you can probably point to a successful lifestyle and personality. Time management is a sign of long-term success, and being able to use the time in any given day to be productive is the sign of a successful person.

7. You are socially active and keep successful friends.
Success tends to come in many different ways, not just your rank or your pay packet. If you are able to get involved in many different situations with a variety of social circles you can point to a healthy and harmonious life–people don’t tend to stick around toxic personalities. Success around you is the easiest way to inspire yourself.

french citizens in Boko haram Squad

• Arrest proves sect has European members
• Bama, Baga about to be liberated as more
insurgents are slayed in Sambisa, Gwoza
• Chad inflicts more casualties on terror group
Senator Iroegbu in Abuja with agency report
Following the capture of eight French nationals
who are members of the terror group Boko
Haram, a diplomatic spat has ensued between
France and Cameroun, which has insisted on
trying the terror suspects.
A top Nigerian intelligence source opened up to
THISDAY on the brewing diplomatic tensions
between France and one of her Francophone
allies in the sub-region following the shocking
discovery that some French citizens are staunch
members of the sect, a throwback to their
membership of the terror group, Islamic State in
Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
According to findings, France was reported to
have chided her former colony for insisting on
trying the terrorists in Cameroun instead of
handing them over to the French authorities.
Enraged by the audacity of Cameroun to hold its
citizens, the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Lauren
Fabuci, was alleged to have ordered that the
suspects be handed over to the European country
with immediate effect.
However, Camerounian authorities were said to
have felt slighted and have protested the manner
in which France had demanded the release of its
nationals.
A Camerounian minister was quoted to have said:
“Mr. Lauren Fabuci, the French Foreign Minister,
has ordered Cameroun to release immediately
eight Europeans captured by our security men, for
being part of Boko Haram terrorists.
“Mr. Fabuci demanded their immediate handover
to France so that they can prosecute the
terrorists on French soil, ignoring our sovereignty
and independence.
“The French are acting as if Cameroun is their
errand boy that they can order around and ignore
the fact that we have our own laws with which
we can try the terrorists.”
The latest revelation has lent credence to strong
suspicions in the Nigerian intelligence community
that Boko Haram has strong foreign backing

He's a husband material(heres why)

How do you know he is an husband material?
1. He calls you often and asks how your day
went.
He does this in a friendly manner. He doesn't
"act" it.
2. He visits you on sick bed and perhaps sleeps
there with you.
This implies that he is willing to accept your "ups"
and your "downs" alike.
3. He loves your siblings as his own.
He loves your siblings and plays with them
carefreely? Haba, think about it!
4. He talks to you with respect.
He doesn't talk down on you even when you talk
flippantly. He ignores without and scolds within
with respect.
5. He doesn't force sex on you.
He loves you so much that he won't force
anything you're not comfortable with including
premarital sex.
6. He gives you cash when you need it.
He is responsible in your financial issues. He likes
giving to you to the best of his capacity. He even
tells you his whole salary . He loves you then.
7. He tells you the truth not minding how you
feel. He later pets you
He doesn't leave you to yourself. He scolds within
but with love. He draws you back with one hand
however. He doesn't sleep with malice.
8. He talks of his future plans with you in it.
He plans his future and includes you. That's a
major sign.
Ladies, this kind of guy exist. Don't give up on us

Mother Doesn't EXist

In a mother’s womb were two babies. One asked
the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?”
The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be
something after delivery. Maybe we are here to
prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”
“Nonsense” said the first. “There is no life after
delivery. What kind of life would that be?”
The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be
more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our
legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have
other senses that we can’t understand now.”
The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is
impossible. And eating with our mouths?
Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition
and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is
so short. Life after delivery is to be logically
excluded.”
The second insisted, “Well I think there is
something and maybe it’s different than it is here.
Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.”
The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover if there
is life, then why has no one has ever come back
from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the
after-delivery there is nothing but darkness and
silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.”
“Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly
we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.”
The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in
Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists then
where is She now?”
The second said, “She is all around us. We are
surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that
we live. Without Her this world would not and
could not exist.”
Said the first: “Well I don’t see Her, so it is only
logical that She doesn’t exist.”
To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when
you’re in silence and you focus and you really
listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can
hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.”

Life pension for President,vice

THE National Assembly, yesterday, completed the
amendment of the 1999 Constitution with
approval of life pension for anybody who has held
office as President or Vice President, Senate
President or Deputy Senate President, Speaker or
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
But beneficiaries of this gesture must be
occupants who successfully concluded their terms
in office without removal or impeachment.
The amended constitution, which was presented
as motion, to the floor of the Senate by the
Chairman, Senate Committee on the Review of
the 1999 Constitution, Senator Ike Ekweremadu,
for onward transmission to the president for
assent, also made it mandatory for the president
to appear once a year before the joint sitting of
the National Assembly to deliver an address in
respect of the state of the nation.
But the president, in the expected constitution,
loses the power to solely assent to bills passed
by the National Assembly. The same applies to
state governors.
The amended Clause read: “Any person who has
held office as President or Deputy President of
the Senate, Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the
House of Representatives, shall be entitled to
pension for life at a rate equivalent to the annual
salary of the incumbent President or Deputy
President of the Senate, Speaker or Deputy
Speaker of the House of Representatives,
provided that such a person was not removed
from office by the process of impeachment or for
breach of any of the provisions of this
Constitution.
“The president shall attend a joint meeting of the
National Assembly once a year to deliver an
address in respect of the state of the nation. He
may attend any joint meeting of the National
Assembly, either to deliver an address on national
affairs including fiscal measures, or to make such
statement on the policy of government as he
considers to be of national importance.”

Military Force Alone Can’t Defeat Boko Haram, Others

The United States President Barack Obama said
on Tuesday that military force alone could not
defeat the Boko Haram insurgents and other
terrorist organisations around the world.
Obama’s statement came ahead of Thursday’s
Summit on Countering Violent Extremism.
According to the US Department of States,
Washington is hosting the summit to highlight
domestic and international efforts to prevent
violent extremists and their supporters from
radicalizing, recruiting or inspiring individuals or
groups in its country and abroad to commit acts
of violence, “efforts made even more imperative in
light of recent, tragic attacks throughout the
world.”

The many controvesies surrounding Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has
been embroiled in a lot of controversies.
Many continue to wonder what makes Obasanjo
thick and how he manages to get away with
things other people would not even dare to try.
Like a cat with nine lives, Obasanjo came out of
prison and assumed the number position in
Nigerian in 1999. Though he did not have the
support of his people in the Southwest, other
parts of the country voted for him.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is not an
ordinary Nigerian citizen as he has become some
sort of political Mecca where countless politicians
and political parties pay homage and source for
advice concerning their ambition.
One thing about the former President is that he is
never afraid of courting controversies, an action
which has fetched him a lot of enemies and
criticisms. But Obasanjo seems not to be
bothered with his critiques as he keeps saying his
mind, irrespective of who gets hurt.
Let’s take a look at some of the controversies
that former President has been involved in.
1. Obasanjo dumps PDP in a very dramatic
manner:
This is the most recent act of Obasanjo that has
everybody talking. On Monday, February 16,
Obasanjo officially left the ruling Peoples’
Democratic Party (PDP). The fact that he left the
party was not the issue but the manner he did it.
He tore his party membership card in public, an
action which the party described as an insult.
2. He wrote a controversial autobiography:
The former President’s autobiography, ‘My Watch’
which was unveiled at the at the Lagos Country
club Ikeja, Lagos, on December 9, 2014, caused
quite a stir in the country. The book strongly
criticized a lot of top Nigerian politicians like
president Goodluck Jonathan, Bola Tinubu,
Gbenga Daniel and others. Despite being stopped
by a court injunction, Obasanjo had gone ahead
to launch the three-volume book.
Though the book was banned from being sold in
Nigeria, the former President refused to be
deterred and took it to other countries where it
will not be banned.
3. Attempted a third term:
Obasanjo was the only president who attempted
a third term but was confronted. Obasanjo was
embroiled in controversy regarding his “Third
Term Agenda,” a plan to modify the constitution
so he could serve a third term as President. This
led to a political media uproar in Nigeria.
Obasanjo later denied his involvement in the third
term agenda.
Speaking at the launch of his autobiography, he
denied seeking a third term but admitted he knew
about it. He had said: “Third term was not my
agenda or intention although I would not say I
didn’t know about it. I didn’t mastermind third
term. Those who were telling me to go on were
the governors that were going to benefit from it.”
4. Obasanjo’s letter to Jonathan:
In 2013, the former president stirred up a storm
with an explosive 18-page letter entitled “Before it
is too late” to President Goodluck Jonathan
detailing what he perceived to be the president’s
shortcomings. This had sparked a lot of reactions
in the country at the time.
5. Iyabo’s letter to her father:
Following Obasanjo’s 18-page letter, his daughter,
Senator Iyabo Obasanjo had allegedly written a
letter to her father. She had denounced Obasanjo
as a self-seeking man lacking in all key
expectations of a father and a leader, but often
appearing quick to accuse others of the same ills.
The letter was surrounded in controversy as the
spokespersons and family members of Obasanjo
alleged that the letter was forged. Meanwhile,
Iyabo refused to denounce or deny her authorship
of a blistering letter. Obasanjo had alleged that
Iyabo was coerced by President Goodluck
Jonathan’s administration to write the letter to
him in a bid to embarrass him
6. His son Gbenga accused him of sleeping with
his wife:
In 2008, Gbenga, the first son of the former
president dropped a bombshell on his father’s
alleged sexual intimacy with his estranged wife,
Moji. Gbenga, in a sworn affidavit, submitted to a
divorce court accused his father of sleeping with
his wife. The former president was summoned in
court in what appeared to be a messy divorce
between Gbenga and his wife.
7. The Odi massacre:
This was an attack carried out on November 20,
1999, by the Nigerian military during Obasanjo’s
reign as president. Nearly 2500 civilians were
reportedly killed in the predominantly Ijaw town
of Odi in Bayelsa state, while every building in the
town except the bank, the Anglican church and
the health center were burned to the ground.
Report has it that massacre was ordered by
Obasanjo. On his command the world witnessed
one of the most tragic abuse of human right and
genocide in Odi.

Nigeria's Top 20 Richest Musicians And Their Net Worth

Music has been paying heavily in Nigeria for the past ten years. No wonder average Nigerian youths sees music as the quick means to wealth and fame. Why not! When a good number of artistes have risen from nothing to something over the years, enjoying wealth that can only be imagined by average people. The question is Who is the richest among these musicians and how much are they worth?
In music, your popularity determines your worth, you don't make poo if you are not popular. How do we determine the popularity of an artiste? Do not let their noises or that of their fans deafen your ears, some aren't worth that much, while some worth so much.

The number one means of knowing how popular a musician or music is, is by checking out it's YouTube stat. If you are popular, it will show on your YouTube views, no manipulation. And if you have a great stat on YouTube, you are a great artiste, making good money.

Another means is through awards but since most music awards are heavily manipulated, we are going to skip awards and use other means such as endorsement and ability to pull crowed and command good appearance fee. Self promotion isn't gonna count in this rating.

Here I present to you the top 20 richest musicians in Nigeria and their estimated net worth. This list is the most detailed and most accurate you can find anywhere on the internet. Enjoy!

She says it’s for the transformation of a better Nigeria under President Jonathan and Namadi Sambo.

One Bad Turn

ONE BAD TURN!

By David Nwajiuba

It was the twenty-third of December. Oke looked at his wristwatch, 6:22 pm, a few more minutes to the close of the day’s work but the day still held a little light outside. He hated his life more now that Christmas festivities were on all around town and he and other workers still had to stay late at the boutique because the season was favourable for sales. The only consolation he had was the elegance about the boutique, the beautiful Nkechi, the new employee and the quality custom made uniforms they all had to wear- it gave him some form of importance- three short sleeved shirts and two golf styled premium t-shirts for the male workers. The uniforms were so good and of top quality, Oke had considered wearing them, severally, to occasions and events. He hated Madam Mabel for having ordered the word, “SECTION ATTENDANT”, to be sewn unto all their uniforms in bold cursive font.
Nurmbergers was one of the large boutiques in Port Harcourt. It was well air conditioned and partitioned into three man segments- Adult Male, Adult Female and Youngster. It had soothing light décor and serenading musical blues playing continuously over the tiny speakers all over the place providing a calculated psychological ambience that made it easy for customers to spend like they had black belt in shopping or were nuclear relatives of Aliko Dangote. You never knew what hit you, until you came out of the boutique, saddled with purchases you had no budget for or need of.
Oke and a few other staff members that had worked for a while at Nurmbergers had, each, devised a unique means to gaining extra cash. The unwritten code was, no one was to know the other’s strategy yet each was to help cover the other’s track when requested or as appropriate. At certain times they executed joint sabotage against the boutique but this was rare.
It didn’t help that Madam Mabel, the boutique’s owner was arrogant, selfish, stingy and rude to her workers. She had heard how workers had ripped off their bosses and had determined never to let that happen to her. Hence she treated all her ten staff members, with great suspicion and severity.
Everyone but her knew that, she had raised an army of very sleek and ingenious thieves as staff members. She had noticed that most times when she made unannounced visits to the boutique, they appeared to have funny looks on their faces that suggested that they were covering up trails from her, but she just couldn’t place her hand on any clue as to any wrongdoing on their part.
Edidiong, the boutique’s disposal guy and longest serving staff member, often joked that, the staff members had so perfected their rip-off act, complete with sign language and gestures to communicate when needed; such precision that even the United States FBI, with all the forensic help it has, would have a hard time detecting any foul play at Nurmbergers.
Oke spotted a young man walking in idly, approaching the adult male section of the boutique. He looked very well dressed; an almost overly starched sky blue military-styled, short sleeved shirt, an expensive-looking cream coloured chinos trousers and shiny polished black pointed shoes. Oke smiled to himself, he stood up from the long stool and brushed off the creases on his shirt. Part of their job as section attendants was to help customers find their way around and encourage them to buy as much as possible. The workers got bonus for doing that.

Tinubu's Reply to soildiers deployed around his home

Ok, the gist is that the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, raised an alarm concerning military personnel stalking his home which is nestled in highbrow Bourdillon, Ikoyi in Lagos. He didn’t quite like the sight of the soldiers milling about the place and said so here.

The army debunked Tinubu’s claims with a statement of its own; to the effect that no soldiers were deployed to Asiwaju’s home and that the APC leader is only crying wolf where none exists. See the army’s riposte here.

Anyhoo, we saw this banner resting on the fence of Bola Tinubu’s home this morning as we drove past Bourdillon. Two banners were hung on the fence of the main house and the adjoining building.

It was a message for the army, more or less. One that suggested that their skills were better suited elsewhere. “This is not Sambisa Forest. Wrong Posting,” the banner read.

Now, in case you’ve been submerged in some cave in the last decade, Sambisa Forest is the swathe of thick forest and shrubs under the control of the terrorist Boko Haram sect. The army has found the area impregnable, billions of dollars in military budgets after.

We can wager that APC stalwarts and Tinubu supporters must have put up these mischievous banners while men slept.

Just before midnight last Thursday, a lorry load of soldiers traversed Bourdillon Road and Falomo Roundabout for about an hour before disappearing into the night, one eyewitness said.

The APC has also sent out a statement to the effect that most of its party officials are being ferreted by the military and that their mobile phones have been bugged as well.

"This is the message we found on the fence of the APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu's house this morning. The two banners hung in the fence of the main house and the next building to his house. The message was loud and clear to the military who have been patrolling Tinubu's house and the stretch of Bourdillon Road since last Sunday. The message on the banners meant for the military- "This is not Sambisa Forest. Wrong Posting."Sambisa Forest is the forest under the control of Boko Haram for years and is yet to be penetrated by the Nigerian military. It is suspected that APC stalwarts and Tinubu supporters must have put up the message over night.
Last night about 11pm, a lorry load of soldiers drove back and forth on Bourdillon Road and round the Falomo Roundabout for about an hour before finally driving off. http://www.maxgist.com/2015/02/bola-tinubus-fence-and-sambiisa-poster.html
